With the continuous progress of China's economy and technological level, as well as the growing demands of the people for a better living environment, an increasing number of high-tech and new devices are being applied in various social production activities.
This article will introduce the application of the fifth-generation LicOS PLC by Unionscience Technology Group in new rural wastewater treatment plants, demonstrating how it helps achieve automation and intelligence in wastewater treatment.
LicOS PLC Function Overview
The LicOS PLC EC311 is a medium-sized PLC launched by Unionscience Technology with the following features:
Network Interfaces : 1 or 2 Ethernet ports supporting communication protocols such as Profinet, EtherCAT, Modbus TCP, Modbus UDP, MQTT, OPC UA Server, etc.
I/O Expansion : 16 DI, 16 DQ built-in, expandable with 16 GL200 series I/O modules.
Software Support : LicOS_PLC programming software Smart Control V5.0.

Application Scenario Analysis
In the new rural wastewater treatment plant project, the EC311 PLC achieves data interaction through two network interfaces:
LAN1 : Communicates with the upper-level network and management platform.
LAN2 : Communicates with front-end execution devices via fieldbus.
Remote Monitoring : Remote monitoring is enabled via a 5G network, facilitating supervision and management by relevant departments.

Wastewater Treatment Process Overview
The process flow of the new rural wastewater treatment plant is as follows:
Screening : Preliminary filtration of large particle impurities.
Regulation Tank : Homogenization and pH adjustment.
Integrated Sewage Treatment Unit : Includes a biological reaction tank and sedimentation tank to remove organic matter, nitrogen, phosphorus, and other pollutants.
UV Disinfection : Further sterilization.
Discharge or Reuse : Depending on the environment, wastewater is either discharged or reused for landscape irrigation.

EC311 Process Control Program
Define Relevant Variables
It is important to note that in the LicOS_PLC programming software Smart Control V5.0, by selecting "Allow Identifiers to Use Unicode Characters" under project settings – programming options, both program names and variable names can be defined in Chinese.

Program Call
The EC311 PLC program for the new rural wastewater station is called by the main program, which automatically calls subprograms for regulating the automatic pH adjustment of the tank, inflow control, dosage calculation, alarm output, and communication handling.
